Region Supported

Up to 2002, the Foundation considered grant requests primarily in the northeastern United States. Some foundation directories have erroneously listed the Foundation as awarding grants throughout the entire United States.

The J.M. McDonald Foundation, Inc. is a relatively small foundation. Due to an overwhelming number of requests for grants that far exceeds the Foundation’s fiscal and evaluational capabilities, the Foundation board has deemed it necessary to pull in it’s boundaries of support to programs and projects located primarily in upstate New York. This is where the J.M. McDonald Foundation, Inc. started and operated for over 48 years. (For more information, please visit our History section.)

Certainly, the Foundation will do its best to support some of the institutions outside our new geographical area that have been successfully awarded grants in the past. However, this, too may be on a limited basis.
